Technology – Deep ERP technical knowledge with project management

Job Description

1. The Cutover Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and monitoring of the transition from legacy systems to new systems (go-live).
2. This role acts as the central point of command during the critical cutover period, ensuring that business operations experience minimal disruption.
3. The ideal candidate will orchestrate technical, functional, and business teams to execute detailed cutover runbooks, manage risks, and facilitate a smooth handover to production support.

Your Role

1. Strategy & Planning: Define the overarching cutover strategy, including downtime windows, data migration alignment, and business readiness criteria.
2. Runbook Development: Build, maintain, and own the master Cutover Runbook—a minute-by-minute project plan detailing every task, dependency, owner, and timeline required for the system transition.
3. Mock Cutovers: Plan and direct trial runs (mock cutovers) to rigorously test the runbook, identify technical or logistical bottlenecks, and refine task durations prior to the actual go-live.
4. Contingency Planning: Develop comprehensive fallback, contingency, and rollback plans to mitigate risks during the cutover window.
5. Command Center Leadership: Direct the cutover "War Room" during the go-live event (which may include weekends or after-hours work), coordinating activities across IT infrastructure, data migration, QA, and business teams.
6. Issue Resolution: Act as the primary escalation point for any defects or delays during the cutover, driving rapid troubleshooting and executive decision-making to keep the project on track.
7. Hypercare & Handover: Oversee the immediate post-go-live support period (hypercare) and facilitate the formal handover of the system to the operational IT support and maintenance teams.
Required

1. Experience in project management, with a minimum of few years specifically acting as a Cutover Manager or Cutover Lead on large-scale enterprise system implementations.
2. Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC), data migration dependencies, testing phases, and IT infrastructure.
3. Tools: Advanced proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Jira, Smartsheet).
4. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear business terms for executive stakeholders.
5. Temperament: Proven ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.

Preferred

1. Certifications: Active PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or Agile certifications.
2. System Experience: Prior experience managing cutovers for specific tier-1 enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP).
3. Industry Knowledge: Experience working within [Food and Beverages], understanding its specific regulatory and operational constraints.
4. Change Management: Familiarity with organizational change management (OCM) principles to better align user adoption with system readiness.
