Role Description:

The Project Manager - SAP S/4HANA Brownfield Conversion is responsible for the end-to-end delivery management of an SAP ECC to S/4HANA system conversion within a government environment.

The role is accountable for schedule, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder management, ensuring the conversion is delivered with minimal business disruption, strong governance, and compliance with government standards. The Project Manager works closely with agency stakeholders, system integrators, technical teams, and independent assurance functions to deliver a low risk, audit ready transition to S/4HANA.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of the SAP S/4HANA brownfield conversion, from initiation through cutover, go live, and stabilisation.
  • Establish and manage project governance structures, including Steering Committees, Design Authorities, and assurance checkpoints.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated project plan, covering: System conversion cycles, Testing phases (SIT, UAT, regression), Cutover and go live activities, Hypercare and stabilisation
  • Ensure compliance with government project governance frameworks, reporting, and approvals.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and dependencies across multiple workstreams.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate conversion specific risks, including Business continuity, Data integrity and reconciliation, Integration and downstream system impacts, Audit and statutory reporting risks
  • Maintain RAID logs and ensure clear ownership and mitigation strategies.
  • Control scope changes and ensure appropriate approvals and impact assessments.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for day-to-day project delivery.
  • Manage relationships with: Agency business and IT stakeholders, System Integrator and delivery partners, External vendors and third-party providers.
  • Facilitate clear communication across all stakeholders, including regular status reporting and executive briefings.
  • Support agency readiness and change impacts resulting from the conversion.
  • Testing, Cutover & Go Live Management
  • Oversee planning and execution of: Mock conversions and dress rehearsals, Integration and regression testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Ensure robust cutover planning, including technical, business, and support readiness.
  • Coordinate go live decision making and post go live stabilisation activities.
  • Ensure issues are triaged, tracked, and resolved during hyper care.
  • Ensure delivery adheres to government security, audit, and assurance requirements.
  • Support internal and external assurance reviews by providing clear evidence, reporting, and remediation tracking.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and audit ready.
Essential:
  • Proven experience delivering SAP ECC to S/4HANA brownfield conversion projects.
  • Strong understanding of SAP program delivery characteristics, including System conversion and testing cycles, Data migration and reconciliation dependencies, Integration and regression impacts
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-vendor SAP delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex ERP programs in the government or Australian public sector.
  • Strong understanding of Public sector governance and reporting requirements, Audit and assurance expectations, Risk based decision making in regulated environments
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently at senior executive level.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including preparation of executive level reports.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues in high pressure environments.
Preferred:
  • 10+ years of project management experience, including large SAP or ERP transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience as Project Manager for SAP S/4HANA brownfield conversions or equivalent complex system transitions.
  • Project management certification (e.g. SAP Activate, PRINCE2, PMP) is desirable.
  • SAP project delivery experience strongly preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Preferred Work Experience
  • 15- 20 Yrs of experience as a Senior Test Manager; Extensive experience in Test Management, Test strategist planning and executing for major programs with headcount ~100
  • Experience in embedding test resources into Agile teams (dev/test collaboration in same sprint) for ST & IAT phases
  • Automation knowledge and experience in Selenium, Cucumber-BDD, Java Scripting, Rest assured API automation, Selenium Grid usage
  • Experience in build automation tools : Maven, Gradle, Git, Bitbucket,ALM/JIRA XRAY (Nice to have)
  • Experience in developing CICD Pipeline through Jenkins/Bamboo (Nice to have)
  • Demonstrated experience managing and building effective working relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Experience in test execution analysis & reporting
  • Ability to develop and execute on a testing strategy, test Design and designing the test automation framework for uplift of testing delivery through practice uplift
  • Applied understand and experience of: Design Thinking, Process Design & Lean Methodology and Systems Development Methodologies – Agile, LD, JAD, RAD, Scrum, SDLC, SAFE
  • Strong Stakeholder management

  • Experience in working in transformation programs in banking domain.
  • Significant experience working in Core banking platforms involving applications running in Mainframes.
  • Proficient in leveraging legacy systems like MF Cobol Unix, JCL and DB2
Experience on HOGAN CORE banking experience is preferable.
  • Knowledge on transaction processing,
  • Well versed in data migration testing, developing the strategy for both functional and non-functional testing.
  • Proven experience in handling vendors, developers, project managers, business analysts and other teams in the organization and to ensure the excellence in test deliver
Additonal SkillSet :
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
  • At least 18-20 years of experience with Information Technology
  • Tertiary Qualification in IT / Computer Science / related discipline.
