Role Description:
A Data Architect is responsible for designing, creating, deploying, and managing an organization's data architecture.
They define how data is stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across systems.
The role ensures scalability, performance, and security of enterprise data platforms.
They align data strategy with business goals and enable analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
This role requires strong expertise in modern data platforms, cloud, and data governance.
Location: Sydney, Australia
Salary: AUD 150,742– 171,215 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Design and implement enterprise-level data architecture solutions
- Define data models (conceptual, logical, physical) for business requirements
- Lead data platform architecture across cloud and on-prem systems
- Ensure data integration across multiple sources (ETL/ELT pipelines)
- Establish best practices for data governance, security, and compliance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data strategy with business needs
- Architect scalable solutions for big data and real-time processing
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and frameworks
- Define data storage solutions (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses)
- Ensure high data quality, consistency, and performance optimization
- Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership
- Support analytics, BI, and AI/ML initiatives with robust data design
Skill / Competencies / Experience: ESSENTIAL - Strong expertise in data architecture and data modeling
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
- Experience with ETL/ELT design and data pipeline architecture
- Knowledge of data warehousing and big data frameworks
- Strong understanding of data governance and data security
PREFERRED - Experience with Databricks / Spark / Delta Lake
- Knowledge of real-time processing (Kafka, Streaming frameworks)
- Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines and feature engineering
- Experience in industry domains (Telecom, Banking, etc.)
- Familiarity with data mesh / modern data architecture patterns
ADDITIONAL Education & Certifications - 14+ years of overall IT experience
- Extensive experience in data engineering and architecture roles
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science / IT / related field
- Preferred certifications:
- Azure Data Architect / AWS Data Analytics
- Databricks Certified Associate/Professional
- TOGAF (optional but valuable)
Tools & Technologies - Cloud Platforms: Azure (ADF, Synapse), AWS (Redshift, Glue), GCP
- Big Data: Spark, Hadoop, Databricks
- Data Warehousing: Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse
- Data Integration: Informatica, Talend, Data Factory
- Streaming & BI: Kafka, Power BI, Tableau
