Role Summary

In the role of Principal Consultant, you will anchor the engagement effort for assignments, all the way from business process consulting and problem definition to solution design, development and deployment. You will be pivotal to problem definition and discovery of the overall solution and guide teams on project processes, deliverables. As a thought leader in your domain, you will be the key advisor to architecture and design reviews. You will anchor business pursuit initiatives, client training, in-house capability building. You will have the opportunity to shape value-adding consulting solutions that enable our clients to meet the changing needs of the global landscape.

The BY WMS Discrete Lead / Solution Architect is responsible for defining the end-to-end warehouse management solution architecture using Blue Yonder WMS Discrete. This role leads functional and technical teams, owns solution design decisions, ensures alignment with business strategy, and drives large-scale WMS implementations, rollouts, and transformations across complex warehouse networks.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design

• Own end-to-end WMS solution architecture using Blue Yonder WMS Discrete
• Lead warehouse process design covering inbound, outbound, inventory, and value added services
• Translate business strategy into scalable, efficient WMS solution designs
• Define global warehouse operating models and configuration standards
• Design future-state solutions factoring:
o Volume growths
o Automation
o Performance, scalability, and resiliency

Program & Delivery Leadership
• Lead multiple WMS workstreams across implementation, rollout, and upgrade programs
• Drive requirements workshops with senior business stakeholders
• Review and approve functional designs, configurations, and extensions
• Provide design governance and ensure adherence to architecture standards
• Support cutover, go live, and hypercare phases for critical warehouse launches

Blue Yonder WMS Discrete Expertise
• Provide expert guidance on:
o Receiving & Putaway strategies
o Inventory & slotting design
o Discrete, batch, wave picking
o Replenishment & allocation logic
o Packing, shipping, and carrier integration
o Exception handling & operational controls
• Guide optimal usage of:
o BY WMS rules, workflows, and configurations
o RF processes and task management
o Extensions vs standard functionality decisions

Integration & Technology Landscape
• Define and govern integrations with:
o ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
o TMS solutions
o Automation systems (Conveyors, Sortation, AS/RS, AMRs)
o Partner and 3PL systems
• Review interface designs, data flows, and error-handling strategies
• Ensure solution aligns with enterprise architecture and IT security standards

Leadership & Mentoring
• Provide technical and functional leadership to consultants and developers
• Mentor team members on best practices and advanced WMS concepts
• Act as escalation point for complex design or production issues
• Contribute to practice development, templates, accelerators, and standards

Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Skills
• Deep hands-on experience with Blue Yonder WMS – Discrete
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations and supply chain execution
• Proven experience leading large-scale WMS implementations
• Strong solution design, architecture, and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with global or multi-warehouse footprints

Technical / Functional Expertise
• BY WMS Discrete configuration & architecture
• Workflow, rules, allocation & task logic
• RF & mobile warehouse processes
• Extensions & customization governance
• Data migration strategies
• Performance tuning & operational KPIs
• SQL for validation and root cause analysis

Good to Have
• Experience with:
o Yard Management / Labor Management
o Omni-channel fulfillment
o E-commerce, Retail, FMCG, or Manufacturing warehouses
• Blue Yonder WMS certification(s)
• Experience with cloud deployments and WMS upgrades
• Presales, solution estimation, and proposal support exposure
