- Skills /Competencies:
- Essential Skills:
- Tertiary Qualification in IT / Computer Science / Engineering discipline.
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in Aspen HYSYS installation, configuration, patching, and technical troubleshooting
- Experience supporting engineering simulation tools in a chemical, oil & gas, or petrochemical environment.
- Manage application installation, upgrades, patching, environment configuration, and system compatibility.
- Manage Aspen Licensing (AspenOne license server, token management, floating license allocation, troubleshooting checkout issues)
- Work with IT infrastructure teams for VM provisioning, firewall exceptions, OS patches, access issues, and system resource problems
- Maintain application performance, monitor logs, and track recurring issues.
- Execute incident, problem, and change management aligned with ITIL/Agile principles, following the governance style present in the reference
- Maintain an internal knowledge base, user guides, and SOPs (install guides, troubleshooting steps, model storage guidelines).
- Coordinate with AspenTech support for patch releases, technical cases, or bug escalations.
- Support user onboarding, software lab setup, local admin rights requests, account provisioning.
- Govern model repository, access permissions, file archival, version control practices
- Ensure IT security compliance: license compliance, patching cycles, OS hardening, security best practices similar to the original
- Support integration with historians, file servers, network drives, and data exchange folders.
- Provide daily onsite support, user interface troubleshooting, and productivity fixes.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and pair programming.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting other AspenTech tools: Aspen Plus, EDR/HTRI, Aspen PIMS / Planning tools & Aspen Simulation Workbook
- Scripting exposure (Python, PowerShell) for automating logs, cleanup, installation tasks.
- Experience integrating HYSYS with PI/other historians, Network file shares
& Model repositories
- Knowledge of cloud/hybrid environments
- Understanding of IT security (access management, hardening, secure install practices)
- Additional Skills:
- Experience in ticket life-cycle hygiene, SLA adherence, sprint-based service cycles, and structured reporting
- Familiar with change control, audit readiness, and security compliance
- Ability to create SOPs, troubleshooting playbooks, install guides, and best‑practice documents that help standardize support processes across teams.
- Identifying opportunities to reduce repetitive issues through automation, templates, cleanup scripts, dashboarding, or log management improvements
