Senior Consultant, Infosys Consulting – Cognitive Manufacturing
Infosys Consulting, the management and technology consulting unit of Infosys Ltd, is seeking motivated Manufacturing Industry Consultants to support and advance its Cognitive Manufacturing service offering. Management consultants seeking long-term growth and career-enhancing opportunities will find both as part of our team of front-runners in Manufacturing Industry consulting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Manufacturing sector with a strong understanding of one or more industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Defense and Industrial Products. Successful candidates will understand manufacturing, distribution and supply chain for discrete, continuous, batch, make-to-stock, make-to-order and engineer-to-order manufacturing processes, including enabling technologies. A key focus area will be helping clients reimagine manufacturing through Industry 4.0, AI/ML, GenAI, IoT, digital thread, smart factory, manufacturing data foundations and other enabling technologies.About the Role
The Senior Consultant role within the Manufacturing consulting practice of Infosys focuses on partnering with business and technology stakeholders to help craft and execute transformation strategies. Senior Consultants provide support to Principal Consultants and Infosys teams across strategy, business case definition, requirements, business process design and re-engineering, business architecture and operating model design. Within the Cognitive Manufacturing service offering, this role serves as a client-facing workstream lead responsible for analyzing manufacturing value-chain processes, facilitating process walkthroughs, identifying AI-enabled improvement opportunities, defining future-state capabilities and developing practical roadmaps that help clients move toward connected, adaptive and insight-driven manufacturing operations.Industry 4.0 Context
Industry 4.0 provides the broader transformation context for this role, reflecting the shift from traditional manufacturing operations to connected, intelligent and adaptive production ecosystems. The Senior Consultant will help clients assess and advance smart manufacturing capabilities by connecting business processes, cyber-physical systems, industrial data, automation, AI-enabled decision intelligence and digital technologies across the manufacturing value chain. This includes supporting the evolution of factories, supply networks and engineering-to-service processes through IIoT, digital thread, smart factory platforms, edge and cloud architectures, advanced analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, manufacturing data foundations and human-centered operating models.In this context, the role is expected to translate Industry 4.0 themes into practical consulting outcomes, including maturity assessments, use-case identification, future-state capability design, roadmap development and value case definition. The focus is on helping manufacturing clients improve throughput, quality, resilience, sustainability, productivity and decision speed while enabling closed-loop operations across product development, planning, production, quality, maintenance, logistics and service.Cognitive Manufacturing Focus
- Support Cognitive Manufacturing engagements that connect process, data, systems, AI use cases, operating model changes and measurable value realization.
- Analyze end-to-end manufacturing value-chain areas including New Product Introduction, product industrialization, parts reuse, BOM synchronization, production planning, shop floor execution, quality, maintenance, supplier collaboration, logistics and service feedback loops.
- Translate business pain points into digital thread, manufacturing data foundation, AI/ML, GenAI, analytics, automation and human-in-the-loop decision intelligence opportunities.
- Support the development of value cases tied to throughput, OEE, first-pass yield, scrap reduction, downtime, engineering productivity, inventory, working capital, launch performance and service quality.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead defined workstreams at Manufacturing clients to address pressing industry issues related to updating and transforming manufacturing facilities and value chains with new technologies that increase throughput, improve quality, lower cost of operations, improve sustainability and enhance resilience.
- Analyze and improve processes across customer experience, R&D, NPI, product industrialization, parts reuse, engineering change, end-to-end supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, quality, maintenance, service, sales, HR, finance and their enabling technologies.
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews, current-state assessments, process walkthroughs, design workshops and future-state working sessions across business, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, IT, OT and service teams.
- Document current-state processes, root causes, pain points, data flows, business rules, system dependencies, manual workarounds and value leakage across the manufacturing value chain.
- Develop future-state process concepts and capability maps that connect NPI, engineering change, parts reuse, EBOM-MBOM-SBOM alignment, process planning, production execution, quality, maintenance, logistics and service feedback.
- Identify and prioritize AI-enabled use cases such as predictive quality, predictive maintenance, AI-assisted scheduling, part similarity search, duplicate part detection, BOM comparison, engineering change impact analysis, operator assistance and manufacturing performance intelligence.
- Translate business needs into requirements, user stories, data needs, capability definitions and solution considerations for consulting, technology, data, AI, PLM, MES, ERP, QMS and IIoT teams.
- Develop business case inputs, benefit hypotheses, KPI frameworks and roadmap recommendations that link Cognitive Manufacturing capabilities to measurable operational and financial outcomes.
- Build client relationships specific to the engagement and seek client input in a structured manner to better understand needs and develop practical solutions.
- Collaborate with other streams, including technology delivery teams across Infosys, to deliver a compelling value proposition and align consulting recommendations with feasible implementation pathways.
- Provide leadership and mentor junior consultants and analysts in the engagement team by reviewing analysis, shaping deliverables and supporting professional development.
- Publish thought leadership and insights on manufacturing industry trends, cognitive manufacturing, AI in manufacturing, digital thread, smart factory and related challenges and opportunities.
- Support business development activities, assist in presales and sales processes, and develop market-relevant points of view to generate and sustain presence in the marketplace.
Manufacturing Value-Chain Exposure
- NPI and Product Industrialization: New Product Introduction, design-to-manufacturing readiness, prototype-to-production ramp-up, APQP, PPAP, launch readiness and manufacturing feasibility.
- Parts Reuse and Product Complexity Management: preferred parts governance, part standardization, design reuse, commonality analysis, duplicate part detection, supplier and material rationalization, and product platform leverage.
- Digital Thread and BOM Synchronization: EBOM, MBOM, SBOM, BOP, routing, work instructions, engineering change impact analysis and PLM-MES-ERP-QMS integration.
- Planning and Factory Execution: demand-to-supply alignment, production planning, finite scheduling, line balancing, dispatching, work order execution, operator enablement and OEE improvement.
- Quality, Compliance and Traceability: incoming quality, in-process quality, final quality, nonconformance, CAPA, genealogy, audit readiness and closed-loop quality feedback.
- Maintenance and Asset Performance: preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, asset health, reliability, spare parts planning and technician enablement.
- Supplier, Warehouse and Logistics Intelligence: supplier quality, inbound logistics, inventory, kitting, line-side replenishment, warehouse execution and disruption sensing.
- Service Feedback and Closed-Loop Improvement: service BOM, warranty analytics, installed base insights, field failure feedback and product improvement recommendations.
Consulting Delivery Expectations
- Own day-to-day delivery of assigned workstreams, including workplans, meeting preparation, stakeholder coordination, deliverable development and issue resolution.
- Apply structured problem solving to analyze and deconstruct complex manufacturing challenges, develop insights, identify solutions and design future states.
- Use process-to-data-to-value mapping to connect operational pain points with data requirements, AI opportunities, system implications, change impacts and business outcomes.
- Prepare client-ready deliverables including assessment findings, process maps, future-state designs, business requirements, use-case catalogs, maturity assessments, roadmaps, workshop readouts and executive presentations.
- Maintain high-quality, client-ready communication through clear writing, structured presentations, confident facilitation and effective relationship management.
Business Development and Practice Development
- Support proposal development by contributing workplan assumptions, role descriptions, delivery approach, case examples, solution narratives and value propositions.
- Contribute to Cognitive Manufacturing thought leadership, including points of view, use-case catalogs, maturity models, assessment tools, workshop materials and reusable delivery templates.
- Stay current on trends in Industry 4.0, AI/ML, GenAI, smart factory, digital thread, PLM, MES, ERP, QMS, IIoT, edge, cloud and manufacturing analytics.
- Help identify follow-on opportunities by recognizing client pain points, unmet needs and areas where Cognitive Manufacturing capabilities can create measurable value.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, supply chain, operations, engineering, quality, technology consulting or business transformation.
- Minimum 3 years of management consulting, business analysis, transformation delivery or client-facing project experience at a consulting firm, professional services firm or manufacturing company.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with Manufacturing sector companies as a direct employee or consultant.
- Knowledgeable in key areas of manufacturing operations, including discrete, continuous, batch, make-to-stock, make-to-order and engineer-to-order manufacturing models.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes, technologies, quality, supply chain, distribution, sales and enabling technologies.
- Understanding of one or more manufacturing domain areas such as NPI, parts reuse, BOM management, process planning, production execution, quality, maintenance, supplier collaboration, warehouse, logistics or service.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing industry trends such as Industry 4.0, digitization, AI/ML, GenAI, cloud, IoT, smart factory, digital thread and manufacturing analytics.
- Experience as a Business Analyst or workstream lead on large transformation programs.
- Experience in process improvement in business operations, including analysis of current state, root cause analysis, insight development, solution identification and future-state design.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation.
- Proven ability to lead projects, build strong and effective business relationships and collaborate with business and technology stakeholders.
- Ability to facilitate discussions, analyze and deconstruct problems, develop structured solutions and categorize challenges in a project environment.
- Highly motivated, with strong analytical acumen, structured problem-solving skills and attention to quality.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel extensively based on client requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- 3–5 years of experience working directly for a manufacturing company or with a professional services firm serving manufacturing clients.
- Experience as a business analyst, workstream lead or transformation consultant is desirable.
- Good depth of knowledge in one or more manufacturing domain areas such as production planning, production operations, supply chain, quality, sourcing, distribution, NPI, product industrialization, parts reuse, BOM management, maintenance or service.
- Experience supporting or delivering digital thread, smart factory, manufacturing strategy, supply chain transformation, quality transformation, asset performance, connected operations or AI-enabled manufacturing programs.
- Working knowledge of PLM, MES, ERP, QMS, APS, IIoT, historian, data lake, analytics, manufacturing intelligence or cloud platforms.
- Working knowledge of EBOM, MBOM, SBOM, BOP, routing, work instructions, APQP, PPAP, engineering change management, product configuration or service lifecycle processes.
- Exposure to AI/ML, GenAI, predictive analytics, optimization, copilots, intelligent automation or manufacturing decision intelligence use cases.
- Experience building business cases, KPI frameworks, benefits models, maturity assessments, transformation roadmaps or value realization plans.
- Experience leading or supporting programs where stakeholder engagement is a key requisite to achieving successful program or project delivery.
- Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines and challenging constraints.
- Experience executing programs using Agile methodologies.
- Lean, Six Sigma, APICS, PMP, Agile, product management, data analytics or cloud certification is desirable.
- Ability to collaborate within the firm and leverage existing resources across consulting, technology, data, AI and industry teams.
- Ability and willingness to work as part of a cross-cultural team, including flexibility to support multiple time zones when necessary.
