Role Description:

The SAP Finance Consultant is a delivery-focused role responsible for supporting the Finance stream execution of an SAP ECC to S/4HANA brownfield conversion within government environment.
The role works under the guidance of the Finance Lead/Solution Architect and is accountable for ensuring continuity of finance processes, data integrity, and compliance with public sector financial controls throughout conversion, testing, and go live.

Location: Sydney, NSW
Salary: AUD 108,571 – 119,893 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support Finance activities related to ECC to S/4HANA system conversion, ensuring minimal disruption to existing business processes.
  • Assist with conversion impact assessment for Finance, including data model changes and functional simplification.
  • Support analysis and remediation of custom objects and Finance related enhancements affected by conversion.
  • Participate in mock conversions, dress rehearsals, and cutover activities from a Finance perspective.
  • Support configuration and validation of SAP S/4HANA Finance components, ensuring alignment with existing ECC design and agreed simplification decisions.
  • Assist with post conversion validation and reconciliation across Finance modules.
  • Support resolution of Finance defects identified during testing cycles.
  • Execute and support Finance test cycles, including Integration testing, Regression testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Support finance data reconciliation activities (pre and post conversion).
  • Assist with cutover preparation, including Finance readiness checklists and business sign offs.
  • Provide support during go live and hyper care, including issue triage and resolution.
  • Work closely with Finance business users, the Finance Lead, Technical teams, and System Integrator resources.
  • Support documentation of Finance processes, configurations, and test evidence for audit and assurance purposes.
  • Assist in knowledge transfer and handover activities to support teams.

Essential:
  • Hands on experience with SAP ECC Finance and S/4HANA Finance, including General Ledger (FI GL), Payable and Receivable Accounts (FI AP / FI AR), Asset Accounting (FI AA / New Asset Accounting), Universal Journal (ACDOCA)
  • Understanding of key ECC to S/4HANA Finance changes, including Data model simplification, Finance table changes and reconciliation impacts, Decommissioning of obsolete ECC functionality
  • Experience or working knowledge of SAP Public Sector Management (PSM FM), including Funds and budget structures, Commitments and actuals, Availability Control (AVC)
  • Understanding of public sector financial controls, including Budget and appropriation management, Statutory and audit requirements
  • Exposure to Treasury, Cash Management, or Grants Management processes is desirable.
  • Experience with FI CA or PSCD for revenue or collections is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of Finance impacts during: SUM based system conversions, Data validation and reconciliation, Integration and Downstream reporting
  • Ability to identify Finance related risks and escalate appropriately.
Preferred:
  • 6–10 years of SAP Basis experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting ECC to S/4HANA system conversions.
  • Experience working in government or public sector environments is highly desirable.
  • SAP S/4HANA Finance certification is mandatory.
