Job Description

Business Architects define the Intentional Architecture for their assigned scope to ensure that the Business Operating Model best supports the enterprise and its long-term strategy. Business Architecture covers motivation, process, organization, location, business objects, business capabilities and their relationships to produce operating models. Business Architects may work in the Architecture Center of Excellence and have an enterprise-wide scope, or they may work in a Domain. Business Architects will collaborate with Business Owners, Customer Goal Leads, Customer Journey Managers, Portfolio Managers and Product Managers to define the target Intentional Architecture, to shape the portfolio of initiatives (to ensure its realization) and to build roadmaps to the target. They work closely with Customer Led Designers to leverage their ideas and designs, continually updating the Architecture

Your role
• Defining and communicating the architecture (current, resultant and target states) for assigned scope, ensuring the architecture links to, and is informed by the overall bank strategy and bank-wide architecture; and produces the business and customer outcomes
• Gaining agreement and buy-in to the above amongst key stakeholders, including relevant Business Owners and Product Managers
• Defining creating and maintaining architecture models (using the ArchiMate modelling language), roadmaps and outcomes, for their assigned scope using architecture strategies to ensure alignment to adjacent and higher-level models
• Assessing portfolio and product backlogs for assigned scope, to ensure adherence to business strategies and architectures, influencing stakeholders (Customer Goal leads and Customer Journey Managers) and authorities when needed
• Researching, understanding, and keeping up to date with industry thinking, best practice, technology, and customer trends. Makes recommendations and articulate findings including potential impact to existing and prospective customers
• Collaborating with key business stakeholders to validate the Intentional Architecture and leverage their ideas and innovations to develop the operating model
• Seeking and relying on continuous feedback, to drive collaboration of business and technology teams around a common business vision
• Contributing to the Bank’s architecture methods and their relationship to the bank’s change management framework
• Actively contributing to the Architecture Centre of Excellence (COE) by cross sharing learnings, emerging, good, and best practice, establishes and participates in Communities of Practice to achieve this
• Influence the development of business strategies at bank-wide level, identifying transformational opportunities for the businesses and technology areas associated with both new and existing technologies

• Lead the most significant, complex, and technically challenging architectural transformations, co-ordinating design, and platform teams across domains, ensuring that their architectural journeys support realisation of the target and their investment portfolios are comprised of programmes of work that move towards the target and deliver the values of the relevant metrics published to Bank’s investors

Required
• Need for ‘intellectual curiosity’, honesty and critical thinking skills
• Ability to see the "big picture" without losing attention to detail
• A broad, enterprise-wide view of the Banking business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes, and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
• Industry Architecture Frameworks: TOGAF, ArchiMate and Architecture Methods
• Knowledge on Change Framework with large Banking Clients
• Experience of defining business and architectures and roadmaps for complex enterprises
• Experience of working with business solution vendors, technology vendors and products within the market
• Experience of defining, measuring and articulating business capabilities
• Experience of developing, syndicating, and communicating architectures, designs, and proposals for action
• A good understanding of Agile and contemporary methodologies with experience of working in an Agile teams
• A very capable communicator with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to peers and leadership level colleagues, with good collaboration and stakeholder management skills

Preferred
• Expertise in one of the leading Core Banking COTS Product implementation
• Knowledge on Solution Architecture Layout of typical Large Core Banking Transformation Program
• Knowledge of New Age Technology evolution like Open Banking, Cloud, Blockchain, AI & RPA, IOT
• Fair knowledge on Banking regulations in UK
